常温下硼烷会从四氢呋喃中逸出，见光和水汽分解，因此保存时要用密封铁桶或钢瓶，包装要耐一定的压力，不用时放置冷库或冰柜中，保持零度以下，使用时开启要缓慢，慢慢放掉容器中起压的气体，最好在干燥氮气保护下使用，避免开封下长时间接触空气，该溶剂还原性强，一般为其饱和溶液，极易燃易爆，远离火源和静电！

常用的硼烷是甲硼烷(BH3 ) ,由于甲硼烷只有六个价电子, 极不稳定,通常二聚形成乙硼烷(B2H6 ) ,所以,实际上乙硼烷是最简单的硼烷。乙硼烷由氢化铝锂和氟化硼在乙醚中反应制备,也可由硼氢化钠与硫酸等质子酸或Lewis酸作用制得,硼烷在提供电子的溶剂如醚、硫醚、叔胺中可形成稳定的络合物。硼氢化反应在室温下即可进行,操作简便,反应速度快,大多可得到满意的产率。烃基硼烷作为试剂或中间体,可以制备很多有价值的化合物,在有机化学中应用广泛,具有重要的理论和实际意义。 [1]

有机硼烷是一类非常重要的化合物，近年来在金属有机化学、有机合成、药物化学及材料科学中都有着越来越广泛的应用。金属卡宾介导的硼-氢(B-H)插入反应是构建这类化合物的潜在方法，但文献成功的例子很少，要实现催化的不对称硼-氢(B-H)插入反应更是困难。国际上之前仅有两个课题组在2013年分别报道了二价铑和一价铜催化的α-重氮酯与氮杂卡宾-硼烷和氮/膦-硼加合物之间的硼-氢(B-H)插入反应((a)Curran, D.P.et al.
