无水氯化钙(CaCl2)为白色或灰白色固体(粒状或粉末)。无臭，味微苦，易溶于水，溶于水时放出大量的热，水溶液呈微酸性，溶于醇，丙酮、醋酸。具有强烈的吸湿性，在空气中极易潮解，应密闭存贮。相对密度2.15g/cm3,熔点782℃,沸点1600℃以上。在常温下由水溶液结晶而析出的常为六水物，逐渐加热至30℃时则溶解在自身的结晶水中，继续加热逐渐失水，至200℃时变为二水物，再加热至260℃则变为白色多孔状的无水氯化钙。
用途：
用于各种物质的干燥剂，此外还用作马路防尘，土质改良剂，冷冻剂，净水剂，上桨剂，建筑工业中还可以用作防冻剂，以加速混凝土硬化和增加建筑砂浆的耐寒能力。它是一种广泛使用的化学试剂、医药原料、食品添加剂、饲料添加剂及制造金属钙、氯化钡、各种钙盐。的原料。此外还用作织物的防火剂、海港的消雾剂、锅炉水处理剂，还能防止煤的起尘。
