葡聚糖凝胶是一种珠状的凝胶，含有大量的羟基，很容易在水中和电解质溶液中溶胀。G型的葡聚糖凝胶有各种不同的交联度，因此它们的溶胀度和分级分离范围也有所不同。葡聚糖凝胶的溶胀度基本上不因盐和洗涤剂的存在而受影响。
葡聚糖凝胶有不同的粒度。超细级的葡聚糖凝胶是用于需要极高分辨率的柱色谱和薄层色谱。粗级和中级的凝胶用于制备性色谱过程，可在较低的压力下获得较高的流速。另外，粗级也可用于批量工艺。

Dextran gel is a bead shaped gel containing a large amount of hydroxyl and easily swelled in water and electrolyte solutions. G type dextran gel has different cross-linking degrees, so their swelling degree and separation range are also different. The swelling degree of dextran gel is basically not affected by the presence of salt and detergent.

Dextran gel has different particle sizes. Ultrafine dextran gel is used for column chromatography and thin layer chromatography with high resolution. Crude and intermediate gels are used in the preparation chromatography process, and can obtain higher flow rates at lower pressures. In addition, the coarse grade can also be used in batch process.
