淡黄色黏稠液体，有特殊的肉桂香味。相对密度1.049（20℃/4℃），熔点-7.5℃，沸点253℃（部分分解），127℃（2.13Kpa），折射率1.6195，闪点71℃。易溶于乙醇、乙醚、氯仿和油脂，溶于丙二醇，难溶于水和甘油。在空气中易被氧化成硅酸，能随水蒸汽挥发。大白鼠经口LD502.22g/kg，大白鼠MNL125mg/kg，AD尚未规定（FAO/WHO，1994）。
用途
1.用作保Chemicalbook鲜剂，我国规定可用于水果的保鲜，按生产需要适量使用。还可作为食用香料。
