It is typically prescribed for oral administration. Mefenamic acid ingestion, usually in excess and over prolonged period is known to produce interstitial nephritis, or less commonly papillary necrosis, with acute renal failure [1]. Mefenamic acid is typically prescribed for oral administration. Mefenamic acid decreases inflammation and uterine contractions by a still-unknown mechanism. However it is thought to be related to the inhibition of prostaglandin synthesis.
