氨基甲酸甲酯可用于织物防蛀虫具有很好的应用前景，具有无味、挥发性适中、毒性低、防蛀效果好，优于精萘、对二氯、三聚甲醛等防蛀剂，是取代樟脑的较为理想的品种之一。另外，氨基甲酸甲酯在其它杀虫剂、杀螨剂和杀菌剂中也有较好的

氨基甲酸甲酯作为镇静药物在医药上很早就得到了应用，另外，还可用作消炎剂，肌肉松弛剂、镇痛剂、抗癫痫药。

氨基甲酸甲酯和丙酮基丙酮反应，得到N一取代甲基吡咯，具有优良的抗UV性能，和橡胶、塑料及各种树酯具有很好的相溶性。另外，氨基甲酸甲酯和原甲酸酯缩合后，生成一种亚胺酯，再和苯肼缩合得到唑酮类化合物，用作除草剂。
和烯烃进行加成反应闸
氨基甲酸甲酯和烯烃进行加成反应，可合成N一取代氨基甲酸酯类化合物，如苯乙烯和氨基甲酸酯在Hg(NO3)：存在下，进行加成反应得N一苯乙基氨基甲酸酯，产率99% ；又比如氨基甲酸酯和异丁烯在酸性离子交换树脂催化下，得到N一叔丁基氨基甲酸酯，产率93% 。

另外，氨基甲酸甲酯在异氰酸酯、无毒聚氨酯合成、碳酸二甲酯合成及与醛酮反应等方面也有应用，如氨基甲酸酯裂解法合成异氰酸酯是取代光气法的主要途径，目前在发达国家已投入工业化生产。

在纺织行业，氨基甲酸甲酯代替尿素和甲醛缩合，再经乙二醇醚化等工序，得到用于纤维处理的织物整理剂，产品具有较低的甲醛逸出，织物抗皱性能好。
在涂料工业以氨基甲酸甲酯为原料可生产粉末涂料，用于家电、仪器、仪表外壳的涂饰，可增加涂层的透明性及耐酸性能，具有贮藏稳定性好，反应活性高之优点。另外，氨基甲酸甲酯在表面活性剂及树脂改性方面也有应用。
