白色浅褐色针状结晶,可加工成片状、颗粒状、粉状。在空气中氧化而逐渐变红。本品味苦、无臭。在真空中蒸馏时能发生爆炸。溶于乙醇、苯、甲苯、氯仿和N，N-二甲基甲酰胺，微溶于水。
